Palestinian writer Muin Masri describes his people’s rage
We unintentionally lost our way. Nobody has been looking for it as much as we did, scarifying our lives. But we don’t want either to be rewarded or to be treated like cowards.

The palestinian writer Muin MasriOffended moderates. Many so-called occidental intellectuals have been pointing at us in these hard times, asking where Palestinian moderates are. Weird. Because apparently nobody heard us screaming during these years of dictatorships and black holes. Thinking bad is not nice, so maybe their distraction is due to distance factors like the beautiful sea with its golden beaches that divides our countries. Occidental moderates keep silent when their opinion is needed and speak loud when it’s just too late.
Freedom and democracy are all free men’s common flag. Some lucky ones were born under this flag, other men died while dreaming of a single moment lived like true human beings. Some hastily blame the whole situation on the lack of public information: but our first free tv, Al-Jazeera, was banned and criticized by America that claims to be the defender of all oppressed people. And as our election results were not what the US expected them to be, they punished the whole Palestinian population that was left starving: “think of it while you’re hungry, so you won’t get it wrong next time”.
And that’s how those phenomenal occidental moderates criticized the war: they didn’t complain about their governments that unleashed this never-ending storm, they just grumbled they didn’t find the right people on the other side to set up a common discussion group with. Well, we’re here, under the allies’ bombs, kept in prison by west-oriented governments. We sleep in some lost place without our kids and wives. Please, come here and look for us before the sun goes down.

A palestinian childA thorny situation. Welcome you elegant men talking like philosophers, you that leave your shiny boots outside our door and plug your nose before getting in: we live on shit and die of it. It’s weird you haven’t realised it yet: no Arabian government could have lasted more than just one day without your support during these years. Each Arabian government, monarchy or republic, acted in your interest just to remain in power and imprisoned or killed thousand people to do so. Those people wanted your extolled freedom and democracy, that’s why they died. I wish you knew how many people suffered and died in vain in the name of freedom in the Arabian world. They were dreaming of it, believing in it but they were left alone. Don’t look for our moderates here: they don’t exist anymore, they don’t believe your occidental lies anymore. And that’s why they fight their own way: far from being mercenaries, they hate their governments and the guilty western world whose only concern was to keep its signature on minerals, oil and gas provision’s agreements. The rest is a disinformation war.
Now that you know what fear, useless deaths and lies mean too (ask Gino Strada), try not to behave like lords, don’t walk on your tiptoes trying not to stain your beautiful clothes, get into our situation: we’ve been living on shit and dying of it for years. And those who talk about religion are not well informed: many kamikaze don’t even know where Mecca is. There’s no difference between a hell and another one, they’d just love to be able to choose it.
