A foundation reunites people who should hate each other, and makes them work
together. It is called Breaking the Ice and it is an initiative which involves individuals who have personally experienced
the traumas and horrors of war. They would all be perfectly entitled to want to
have nothing to do with listening to the others’ point of view. And yet they leave,
aboard an old fire engine, from Jerusalem to Tripoli, in Libya. They share their
fatigue to understand each others’ problems. This is the story of their journey,
told through the diary of the participants

Today we are going from a place near Cairo to Mersa Matruh but it was a strange
day for me because it's the first day all the team wake up early its not normal
for me because always there someone wake up late but in this day no body do it
maybe because the weather was so bad and windy nobody can sleep good in that's
day even me but it was good for us to move early and in that day start Daniel
told us about his story and what happen with him in 9-11 and when he start talk
about what he see and doing suddenly I remember the first years of intefadah and
what was happen in the Palestinian lands sometimes I see it the same sometimes
and sometimes more than that's and when Daniel told us his story baby Yahia sleep
and then Daniel looked at him and he was so upset because baby Yahia sleep and
that meant to him some kind of non respect to him but I am thinking he shouldn't
be upset because if that happen with me and i was tired I will sleep also after
that and when we moving to Mersa Matruh in the road the assistant of the foreign
minister call us and he want to meet the team but we were in the middle of the
road between Cairo and Alexandria so we cant come back and meet him because we
have schedule and we have to follow it so for that we cant meet him and then we
complete moving to Mersa Matruh so when we going there from three day the first
time I see the civilization and a big restaurant his name master and all of us
run to eat hamburger and pizza after we spend two days living in the tomato and
cucumber and pork meet Bernd bring it with him from Germany and in their we meet
a sweet Egyptian waitress and she was so quiet and happy to help us specially
me and dr. Latif because we are the only Arabs and speaks Arabic language and
after we finished the launch she come and want to know about us were we are from
where and we doing in Egypt she was so happy to know us and what we doing in the
peace mission after that and we go out from the restaurant we go to the car and
back again to the road and keep moving to Mersa Matruh and we have another restaurant
in the road and in this restaurant dr. Latif invite everyone for tea and its not
the first time he do it he do it many time even he invite us to lunch also I think
he is very generous with us and some times offer for us many things like beer
and cola also wine sometimes we feel he is BTI and take care of us even when BTI
didn't offer anything of these things to us so we thank god to have Latif with
us even he is entertainment guy with us and after we arrive to Mersa Matruh at
11pm we search to find a place to spend the night in there and the Egyptian police
help us to find a good place his name Romel beach and when we arrive the documentary
team of Latif also come in there to take Latif to make his documentary film about
his life and what happen to him when he come to Europe and what happen with him
there and because we arrived late the dinner was ready at 12am after that we go
to sleep like a dead person and before I finish it should be thanks Neda for helping
me to correct the spelling.
